The her barium to date counts more than 500 different specimens carefully collected and curated by specialists with utmost precision. Specimens are arranged systematically in cupboards by taxonomic relationships rather than alphabetical order. All specimens are cross-referenced with ancillary collections like carpological collections of seeds and fruits too large to fit on archival quality paper.
Significant collections include cycads, bryophytes and flowering plant families of Asteraceae, Casuarinaceae, Cyperaceae, Fabaceae, Lamiaceae, Myrtaceae, Poaceae and Restionaceae. The herbarium also boasts a rich library of botanical literature and collections continue to grow through collaborations, expeditions, gifts, and exchanges with other institutes at home and internationally.
