Botanic Gardens Conservation International (BGCI) is a membership organization, representing botanic gardens in more than 100 countries worldwide. It is an independent UK charity established in 1987 to link the world’s botanic gardens to a global plant conservation network.

National Agricultural Research Organization (National Botanical Gardens Entebbe).
The National Agriculture Research Organization was established with the mandate to coordinate and oversee all aspects of public-funded agricultural research in Uganda. Established as a body corporate by the National Agricultural Research Act of 2005, NARO comprises a Governing Council, a Secretariat, and 16 Public Agricultural Research Institutes (PARIs) spread across the country. Under this project, we are working with the National Botanical Gardens Entebbe under NARO.

Makerere University
Established in 1922 as a humble technical school, Makerere University is one of Africa’s oldest and most prestigious Universities. It became an independent University in 1970 by an Act of Parliament. This status continued until 2001 when the Universities and Other Tertiary Institutions Act was enacted. Under this project, we closely coordinate with the Department of Plant Sciences and Microbiology.
