Between 2010 and 2014 Tooro Botanical Gardens (TBG) in partnership with CARE International in Uganda, implemented the Rights Equity and Protected Areas (REPA) project in selected sites around Kibale National Park in the districts of Kabarole and Kamwenge.
The project was aimed at promoting collaborative natural resource management processes for selected sites around Kibale National Park, supporting conservation-friendly non-land intensive enterprises among poor households aimed at increasing their incomes and promoting initiatives for reducing impacts of problem animals to communities around the national park.
Some of the outcomes of the project include; Increased household income, increased conservation-friendly non-land intensive enterprises among natural resource-dependent communities and reduced impacts of crop destruction by problem animals around Kibale National park.
