Succulent Plant Garden.

Succulents are a diverse group of plants that have adapted to arid and semi-arid environments. Succulent plants have specialized adaptations that allow them to store water in their leaves, stems or other plant parts. This water storage allows them to survive in dry conditions and go for extended periods without water.  They’re loved by gardeners all over the world for their low maintenance as they don’t require frequent watering and have unique appearance.

At the botanical gardens there’s a garden dedicated to the display and conservation of succulent plants. The collections include echeverias, aloes, euphorbias, kalanchoes, cacti and many others.

The succulent plant garden was set up as a means to safeguard the genetic diversity of succulent species, protection from extinction in their natural habitats, and also for sustainable propagation and horticultural purposes.

In essence the collection plays a crucial role in ensuring the survival and sustainability of succulent species, offering a means to protect their genetic diversity, study them, and potentially restore them to their natural habitats where conditions permit.
